Annual display of visual arts concludes at Lahore College for Women University

LAHORE: The annual degree show of students of Design and Visual Arts Department titled ‘From Dot 2 Design’ concluded at the Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) on Monday.

Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design (PIFD) Vice-Chancellor Professor Hina Tayyaba was chief guest whereas LCWU Vice-Chancellor Dr Sabiha Mansoor was also present on the occasion.

The artwork, including graphic designing and ceramic designing of 34 students, were put on display. Students of graphic design programme prepared the advertising solution for the various local and multinational products, companies, brands, NGOs and government institutions. The advertising solutions included designs for the calendars, billboards, pamphlets, posters and online advertising.

Students displayed media and marketing campaigns for national and multinational companies like the WWF, Outfitters, Starling, Word of Artefacts, Nadeem Caterers, the Alhamra Art Council, Hang Ten, Zimm, the Health Ministry, Art Cosmos, PWA, Zawaj, the Child Care Foundation, Chanan, the Card, ILO and Berger.

Students of visual arts, who worked in ceramics and printmaking, showcased different things such as printing through wooden carve on paper and fabric and different showpiece of ceramics. Speaking on the occasion, LCWU VC Dr Sabiha said that the LCWU was committed to presenting syllabus compatible to the requirements of industry and market.

“After looking at the thesis work on display, I find it encouraging that these students are ready for their practical work with devotion and commitment,” she added.

PIFD VC Hina Tayyaba praised the aesthetical work and said that marketing campaign designed by student were of international standards.
