ISLAMABAD, Sept 29: In order to enhance the working efficiency of the institutions, the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has asked all schools and colleges to involve parents of students in educational activities.

For this purpose, election to the parent-teacher association (PTA) will be held on October 1 and most of the schools will be closed for students on that day, it has been learnt.

A teacher of a school in I-8/2 while talking to Dawn said parents had been requested to attend the meeting to elect the PTA members.

The Islamabad Model College for Boys (postgraduate), H-8, has also announced its decision to hold the PTA meeting on Monday, which will elect the PTA members under the supervision of Professor Kazim Hussain, the principal of the college.

Professor Riasat Ali Abbasi, the chairman of the geography department and in-charge of PTA, will brief the meeting.

Professor Abbasi said PTA was the most effective forum of parents and teachers in order to ensure education, training and character building of the students.

The meeting will elect the president, general secretary, finance secretary and eight executive members of the PTA. — A Reporter DAWN
