FilmSaar International Children’s Film Festival at the Sir Syed Memorial Society

Children’s film festival starts Islamabad

The Little Art commenced its 2nd FilmSaar International Children’s Film Festival at the Sir Syed Memorial Society here on Monday.

German Embassy’s Head of Press and Cultural Section Dr. Thomas Ditt, Senior Press and Cultural Officer of the Netherlands Embassy Nabeela Ahmad, Country Director Acting for Life Valerie Khan Yusufzai and Brigadier (r) Iqbal M. Shafi, president of the Sir Syed Memorial Society, were present on the occasion.

The festival would include three shows in the morning and two in the evening. Entry to the festival is subject to partial donation, or completely free for deserving and marginalised children. Nearly ten organizations working for children in various capacities are involved in the festival. The festival would screen 86 films, including short, feature and animated from 32 countries, all suitable for children and young people of different ages.

The festival aims to promote art education and media literacy among children and young people. It will showcase educational and entertaining international films, to expose children to the world cultures and open up their minds towards tolerance and new ideas.

The festival is being organised with the collaboration of the Netherlands and German embassies, Groupe Development, Idara-e-Taleem-o-Agahi, Teachers Resource Centre (Karachi), Agriculture University, Peshawar, Sir Syed Memorial Society, Islamabad, and Annemarie Schimmel Haus (Goethe Institute).
